The SPEC mode is a Special Channel of Admission for B.Tech programmes. This channel is aimed at identifying students with extraordinary talent or backgrounds.

You are eligible if you have passed 12^th class or equivalent by July 2021 with Maths, Physics and Chemistry and belong to one of the following categories:

a) Qualified for the UDAAN scheme of CBSE.

b) Studied at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at least for the last 2 years (11^th and 12^th).

c) You are currently enrolled in the 4th Semester of an integrated, six-year, 12^th + B.Tech programme (after the 10^th class).

Applicants in this mode need to appear for a computer-based entrance examination conducted by IIIT Hyderabad. The exam will test you on subject proficiency.

* SUPR — Subject Proficiency test for 60 minutes.

The exam will be held in multiple centres across many cities (List of Centers)

Candidates shortlisted from this exam will have to clear an interview to gain admission. The decision on the final offer of admission is solely based on the interview performance.

You need to register online and fill an application form to appear for the exam by the announced deadline.

The tuition fee for Single Degree B.Tech programmes for the batch of 2021, for the academic year 2021-22 is INR 3,00,000/- per annum. This may be revised annually. In addition to the tuition fee, the student has to pay for hostel charges (approx INR 3000/- per month) and mess charges (approx INR 3500/- per month). These have to be paid semester-wise, before the start of the semester.

The exam will test you on Subject Proficiency (SUPR). The syllabus is based on the 11^th and 12^th levels of Physics, Maths, Chemistry (CBSE and most state syllabi).
